woof

conversations with charlotte always have the chance of concluding wif smth meaningful, to say the least. we were talking bout some person who woke her up at school.

Charlotte: ...(insert bitching here) bet she hasn't heard of "letting sleeping dogs lie"...
Lester: heh heh
Lester: "Zzzz... wad.. i'm not sleeping...zzzz"

the intellectuals will get it.
or my die-hard groupies.

in the brown study

dan brown's such a charmer, in this, well... brave new world we live in.

finished reading brown's angels and demons.
hollers aside, it rekindled the fascination i had with the da vinci code, (not with how explicitly he wrote about christiany in the reins of controvesy, wroughting the firmest believer with that penetrating tinge of a doubt, mind u), but simply his skill to weave a tale, however tall it is. wonderful read, like the da vinci code.

could almost imagine the painstaking efforts put in the book. hours and hours in the brown study.
heh.

some stuff i've gotta get down before i forget.

at this point i must state, purport even, that my faith is definitely not stirred by the delightful read. I firmly believe in the sanctity of God and how my faith has carried me thought in times of trouble.

it is but fiction my dear friends. or if we cant find the blurring line,
we need to take a step back and consider what ready matters.

Personally, i feel that Christians, armed with sturdy faith, would do well not to have their feelings stirred by a piece of fiction. It is akin to being aggravated by an incredulous, or purposterous proposition. it's a mere tale, a tall one that falls short. A well written world of fiction, that is but mere entertainment.

My faith is christianity is not shaken, simply because it is so much a reality for me.
i'll do well.

on another note,
All the halabaloo about cloning and how it's just not right to play god and stuff; i will not open a can of worms by stating my stand on this.
i feel that for many it, not the sanctity of human or conscience (god forbid) that mandates their stand, especially for naysayers. They're not in deliberation because we might be doing the world thing, or abusing technology... but are cringing, to think that the man is developing technology akin to be powers of god.

the powers of god, in man, in the hands of the most volatile of all creatures.
we are afraid. very afraid.
faith, my friend.

on a lighter note, i went for the nj dance concert today.
now that's a quality production, nice histronics.
wow-ed.

edit: peeps have been telling me my blog was untaggable, hence the new skin.
edit2: you won't be able to see wad ur typing on my tagboard, idk why, *shrugs, kinda cool anyway
this skin is gonna haf to do till i find a more impactful one, dun really like how the blog makes my entries look copious... but i'll haf to do.

Plus, if i wanna leave spaces i have to do a double space... guess it's smth to do with code, kinda makes blogging tedious (had to edit my last entry for it to look more sensible).

gosh i haf this insufferable headache now.

i like my previous entry. :)

brass monkeys and testicular fortitude.

been catching on my reading these days.
"The Real McCoy: the true stories behind our everyday phrases" is quite a delightful snippet-read. It's a snippet-type lexicon of of phrases like "couch potato" or "a chip off the old block"
ya know, stuff like that.

Came across a rather, well... interesting phrase:
Excerpt:
"Brass Monkey: used to refer to extremely cold weather;
Origin: 'Brass Monkey' comes from the mid 20th century slang expression 'cold enough to free the balls off a brass monkey..."

WAIT A MINUTE.

Now issit that colloquialism at one of it's better moments; BUT i just cant imgaine 2 jolly englishman, with the immaculate clothing, that indispensblae pipe, and an almost incredulous whiff of an english accent, along wif one of those quaint top hats purporting: "myyy god... the bloodyy weather is cold enough the freeze THE BALLS off a brass monnnkey-"

I bet mid 20th century english dudes were funkier than we think they are.
grimy.

With all the cultural enrichment classes these days to raise awareness about the upcoming economic heayweights of india and china, who knowa, we might have british culture classes really soon. I can almost imagine an overzealous kid, who obviously wants to get a headstart in everything (read: rat race), dives into the "forbidden annals" of old english literature to impress his teacher. "Mr Goh, wad a day eh? It's cold enough to freeze the balls off this monkey if u know wad i mean-"

Lots of stuff happening round the world. Thai PM Thaksin resigned despite having secured the stipulated number of votes. It's gonna be such a bummer if his successor ain't got feet big enough to fill his shoes. His detractors say democracy doesn't work anymore and question its legitimacy in thailand. They should be careful wad they wish for.

Usual boring day at school for me today. Treated the girls to ice cream. Wad a way to spread the cheer, or maybe just to ameliorate the general lack of smiles and the sluggish inebriance in ard here. Just my own lil contribution i guess. The pressure's setting in.

I think my physics tutorials are a waste of god-given time. Everyone's just not interested so it's kinda out of my hands. My S paper lessons seem to go on forever. Kinda dislike blogging about school, coz there's pretty much nothing amusing/northworthy to blog about... yeeess people. I'm pretty much the only interesting thing happening in school...

and my loyal readers know i don't like blogging about myself...
anyway i have a feeling good stuff's on the way, and you'll be sure to know about it.

heh heh heh
